Summary

This publication is based on the report commissioned by UN-Habitat Morocco in June 2023 on best practice case studies in housing rehabilitation occurring in historic settlements in Arab regions, as well as guidelines on how to take action. The guidelines developed in this report result from conversations and debates led during a regional conference that took place between the 15th and 18th of December in Marrakech, Morocco.

The Housing Rehabilitation in Historic Urban Settlements in Arab Regions project is an initiative by UN-Habitat in partnership with the Islamic Bank for Development and UNESCO, working towards a deeper understanding and collective guidelines for the preservation of housing in historic centers across the MENA region.
